Recently my husband has had to work pretty late hours. They are down a few people and he’s had to take on their jobs on top of his job. So that normal evening routine we had down is no more for the moment. I was starting to feel crazy overwhelmed because my partner was no longer able to help with the chores. I just couldn’t seem to get a handle on everything that needed to be done in the house, taking care of the kids and taking care of myself and relationship. Being the overly organized person that I am, I had to figure out a way to make this new craziness a little more normal. The one thing that always brings me back to my calm is setting a schedule for myself…well of course a clean house helps too. So I decided to sit down and make a cleaning schedule. Kind of like killing two birds with one stone…a clean house AND a schedule to keep me on track.
My daily morning cleaning normally starts after I drop the kids off at school. I spend my mornings when I first waking up to workout (if I can get up early enough) and to get the kids ready for school. I am just not that mom that can wake up at 5 am ready to go. The evening daily chores are once the kids are in bed. I will have to shake up the schedule once the kids are out of school but I promise I already have a post planned for that one!
Now this cleaning schedule doesn’t include the small things like wiping the baseboards once a month along with watering the indoor plants once or twice a week. Also, I have the kitchen cleaning set for Tuesday because I like to take a little more time and wipe the cabinets and make sure it’s really clean. I have listed cleaning out the fridge on that day which I do if I postpone cleaning out the fridge from Friday. I try to always clean out the fridge as I put my groceries away but if that doesn’t happen then I definitely do it on Tuesdays.
