You guys…our oldest daughter is turning 4 years old this coming weekend!!! Please excuse me while I go cry my eyes out for the next month! No seriously though, I am having a hard time with this one. How am I supposed to be okay with my kiddo getting older?! (Insert hysterical crying here LOL.)
Anyway, this weekend we went around buying the things needed for our daughter’s birthday party. We asked her a month ago what theme she wanted for her party and she said Power Rangers. I thought that would be super easy for me so I was pretty happy….that is until she specified that it had to be Samurai Power Rangers. Umm excuse me…do you realize that particular version was all the way back in 2010 time frame kid? So finding the usual party supplies is possible but the cost is more. So I decided I was going to take a different route and make the decorations myself. So we set out this weekend to pick up all the stuff that I needed. There are A LOT of things but I know it’s going to be so awesome when it all comes together. Now it’s just a matter of spending some long nights getting it all done before her party.
The best part about this weekend though was the fact that the weather was AMAZING! We have had some pretty cold days lately so to have the temps get up to 70°F was such a relief. It finally started to feel like spring, PLUS it was sunny. That’s huge being in Europe. So the kids got to play outside and they got to do it in short sleeve shirts which we were all happy about.
The kids imaginations have really started to shine through lately and we got many signs of that over the weekend. Yesterday we had a group of “friends” having circle time like they do at school. I was told to not touch them until they were done sharing LOL. It wouldn’t have been that big of deal except they decided to have circle time right in my kitchen doorway. I obeyed their wishes though and allowed them to finish circle time before “asking” them to go play in a better location. 🙂
Then there was another great sign of not only the warmer weather but of the second week of Spring Break. (Yep, Spring Break is two weeks here.) There are a lot more walkers, bike riders (they ride their bikes in rain, snow, warm or cold weather) and just people out and about. The other night we had a huge group of teens/kids taking an evening walk. Our daughters thought it was great and stood at the window waving to them. They got so excited when the walkers waved back. We’ve really learned that while the Europeans typically stare and have a mean looking face, they are actually very nice and will smile and wave back to you.
Overall it was a great weekend and again, we spent some quality time as a family. There have been some not so great events happen over the week (not with us personally but still startling) so we spent a lot of time hugging each other, telling each other how much we love them (to the moon and back of course) and having as much fun as we could. Stay tuned though, I will be posting about the birthday party next week. I will share all my DIY decorations and give you a look at the whole party. I’ve also got some great posts planned for this week so make sure you subscribe and also follow me on bloglovin’. I’d love to hear about your weekend too!
Have a wonderful week! Xo
