As I sit here on my couch typing this post, I live only a small distance from the Brussels attack. Two explosions in the airport in which my family flew into when moving here. The same airport I used less than a year ago to fly back to the United States for a Beachbody conference. I don’t care how many years I served in the military or how many years my husband has been in the military, this is scary. This is hitting far to close to home. A home where my children live.
I am sad for what has taken place. I pray for those lives that have been lost and the friends and family members left behind. I pray for the recovery of those that have been injured. This senseless act of violence is beyond my understanding.
This also goes to show that you should hug your loved ones, express your emotions and ensure that they know how much you love them. While I am extremely grateful my family wasn’t in the airport nor the metro station, we could have easily been there. It could have easily been us or any of our friends stationed here with us.
I am beyond grateful for the leadership of my husband’s unit. The information flow along with the quick accountability is outstanding. While I am scared, I also feel safe knowing that the great military that my husband serves in is taking action to ensure our safety. They are ensuring we know what is going on and what we should be doing, or not doing.
I say it time and time again…my husband may have signed the dotted line to serve his country but we, as his family, serve right along with him. We live in a foreign country and have made it OUR HOME. This feels personal to us stationed here.
Today I pray for Belgium….for Brussels and I pray for the Belgian Government. I pray that God gives them the knowledge and guidance to pursue, capture and bring these terrorist to justice!
You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers Belgium!
