This weekend was a much needed rest from parties or party planning. I feel like the last month (if not more) has been spent planning and having parties. I love it; however, a girl could use a break every now and then. So no parties and a whole lot of relaxing was in order.
My husband has been working crazy long hours since he is running his flight plus the beloved EPR season. It’s taken quite a bit of family time away. I get it and know he doesn’t have any control over it but I made the decision to find some quality time for him and I. So I planned an at home date night on Friday night. He didn’t get home until right before the kid’s bedtime but I had already fed them and bathed them. So he got to spend a few minutes loving on them and then off to bed they went. I picked up some pretty great all natural steaks, some veggies and rice then of course Cran-Apple Juice for a mixed drink. I cleaned the whole house and made sure to set the table. We had gotten in such a habit of eating on the couch while watching TV so I broke that and we sat at the table together, no phones and no TV. It was just him and I talking and enjoying each others company. It really made me realize how even a date night at home can be amazing. It’s no secret that date nights can get expensive. I mean the dinner out, babysitting, then if you do anything else besides dinner. You can spend a quarter of the money and still get that time together. I think I will make this a weekly thing for him and I and then once a month do a night out. I mean it cost us what one meal would have cost out in order to have our at home date. Plus the kids were in their beds, comfortable and sleeping which meant we weren’t on a time limit. I highly suggest you try out weekly date nights if you don’t already. Why didn’t I do this earlier?!

So Friday night was a hit for us and then Saturday I got the opportunity to sleep in. My amazing husband got up with the kids that morning and let me get some rest. We actually spend most of the day hanging around the house in our pajamas. It think it was much needed for not only the kids, who had just finished their first week of school after a two week spring break, but also for my husband and I. We got to watch a new TV show that is seriously amazing while the kids were taking their nap. If you get a chance you should check out The Fabulous Baker Brothers. Anyway, once the kiddos woke up we got them dressed and they went on a Daddy & Daughters Date Night. He took them to eat and to play on the big indoor playground. It gave me time to paint my nails, read a magazine, work on some blog posts for you all…basically just relax and enjoy the afternoon. It was probably the best Saturday that I have had in a long time.

Sunday we had some shopping to get done. My husband was working on updating the planters at work so we picked some of that stuff up. Then the girls needed some rain boots because it’s that time of year so we found some pretty great ones that actually have light up soles on them. I’m totally jealous LOL. The weather was kind of nasty and we actually ended up driving through a hail storm but overall it was a good day…other than the crankiness for the kids but they were just tired. Apparently no one likes shopping as much as mommy does?! Go figure! My favorite stop was Ikea though. I mean who doesn’t love that place?! A big bonus to the ones here in Europe is the kid potty stall. I absolutely love how they have a stall in the bathroom that has a small toilet for the kids. I ahd to take a picture and share it with you all…sorry but I just couldn’t help myself. 🙂

I have to say, overall I would love to have another weekend just like that one! Mommy got some “me” time, the kids got some time with daddy and I did not feel rushed to accomplish everything we needed/wanted to. My husband and I even got up early on Sunday to workout. He ran like 4 miles and I did Focus T25 Cardio. It was just what we needed as a couple and as a family. Now, I am hoping the week is kind to us. I already have one kiddo home sick today so hopefully we can get that taken care of by tomorrow.
Here’s a little MONDAY for you! Have an amazing week! <3
