You guys, I am a SERIOUS steak lover! I am not kidding. I am the true steak and potatoes type of girl that would eat it every day if I could. Unfortunately, I have a budget that doesn’t allow that. I do typically incorporate one steak dinner each week though.
Now, this recipe is not what you are going to expect. When you think steaks, you think grilling them. I used to be the same exact way. Then I stumbled across this recipe and that ended the days of my husband grilling our steaks. In all honesty, it actually takes less time for me to make them now too.
A little warning, we think it’s a crime to buy steaks and then make them well done. We are medium rare steak lovers so the time for cooking listed below will give you a medium rare steak. You will have to adjust the time if you are wanting your steaks to be cooked more.
Ingredients:
2-3 Steaks (I use either Filet Mignon or really nice Tenderloins)Kosher Salt
Fresh Cracked Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
High quality Butter (or olive oil)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°
2. Heat a skillet on the stove to medium heat with either the butter or olive oil. I cover the bottom of the skillet. I have used both olive oil and butter and prefer butter. However, the night I cooked these steaks I was out of butter so I made them with olive oil and they still taste amazing.
3. While the butter (or oil) is heating up season both sides of the steaks with the salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. You can choose to marinate your steaks before this but my suggestion is to make sure you aren’t marinating them in a lot of salt. I think they turn out amazing just when you season them right before cooking.
4. Once the steaks are seasoned and the butter (or oil) is heated to medium heat then place your steaks into the skillet and cook them for 2 minutes on each side. You can choose to sear the sides of the steaks as well but I do not.
5. After the steaks are done in the skillet place them on a pan that has been covered with cooking spray. Then put the pan in the oven for 6-8 minutes. This all depends on the thickness of your steaks. (If you are wanting it cooked more than medium rare then you will need to adjust this time for a longer time frame. I don’t have any suggestions since I never cook them to well done.) Just keep an eye on them until they look your desired doneness.
Give this recipe a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed. Make sure you come back and tell me how you like it and any revisions you made to better suit you.
